As part of the 2025 ABA Congress, Diestro hosted an exclusive symposium titled: “Lithium in Blood: The Fine Line Between Therapeutic Dose and Toxicity,” held on Wednesday, June 11 in the Amazonas Room at the Marriott Hotel in Buenos Aires.
The presentation was delivered by Dr. Andrea Bocassi, Head of the Biochemistry Laboratory at Hospital Muñiz, Clinical Chemistry Specialist, and Secretary of the Biochemical Chapter of the Argentine Society of Intensive Care. Her talk captured the audience’s attention with its clarity, scientific rigor, and timely focus on a critical and increasingly demanded parameter: lithium blood level monitoring.
Lithium remains one of the most effective mood stabilizers in the treatment of a broad range of affective disorders. However, therapeutic monitoring is essential: even minor fluctuations in serum levels can significantly impact both efficacy and patient safety. Elevated concentrations above the therapeutic range may lead to toxicity, cause renal damage, and—at higher levels—result in life-threatening complications.
With an invitation to “travel through the bloodstream between ions and emotions,” the session set the tone for a presentation that successfully bridged clinical evidence with human insight.
This event reaffirmed Diestro’s commitment to continuous education, innovation, and the pursuit of new applications in emerging markets—offering reliable and accessible diagnostic solutions focused on improving patient care.
We sincerely thank everyone who attended and shared this moment with us. It is always a pleasure to connect in person, exchange ideas, and continue building the future of diagnostics together.
